A Beautiful Book for Mother`s Day: For My Children...

If you have been reading my blog for awhile, you may have come to understand how I love scrapbooking, documenting family life with pictures, and family history.
I was totally thrilled to be contacted by Ulysses Press, asking if I would like to review this new book, "For My Children: A Mother's Journal of Memories, Wishes & Wisdom".
Of course I said "yes" as I have a life-long love of family stories and history.
***
I have spent 2 days exploring this new hardcover publication, and I really love this little book and I think it is the perfect gift for any Mom...be it for Mother's Day, birthdays or just because.
It's meant to be used as an interactive journal, with prompting and inquiring questions on each page to encourage Mom's  to record  thoughts and perspectives on a variety of different topics.
Inside, the book is divided into 7 sections that cover the areas of Motherhood, Family & Home,
Children, Life Wisdom & Wishes, Love & Relationships, You In The World,  and On Being You.
For instance, I love the question on page 30, "What are some of the things you have learned from your children?"
This question is perfect because it can apply to a Mother with children of any age because I think we can  learn something from all ages & stages.
Another question I liked is: "How have you learned to handle life when you felt discouraged?".
This is a great question for sharing with your children how you cope with life during the test of hard days.
And these are just 2 of the many terrific and intriguing questions inside.
I adore the colourful illustrations and graphics on the pages, as well as it's convenient size {5.5" x 8.5"}
It's small enough to sit on a bedside table so it can be filled out at night... when the house is calm and quiet...which is what I plan to do!
Or it can easily go into a purse or tote bag to become a traveling "project on the go."
And it could become a lovely home to stash small mementos such as movie tickets, small pictures or pressed flowers.
Author,  Dionna Ford, explains, " My mom and I rarely find the time-or make a concerted effort-to delve into family history, or chat about fun, random questions."
She is so right in saying this, and this book is the perfect tool to use to remind and encourage us to slow down in the midst of busy schedules and take the time to have conversations with our mothers & children about things that matter.
In about a month or so, I will be sharing some of the fun things I plan to do with this beautiful journal!
{If you are in Canada, I know this book is available online thru Chapters for under $15.}
I really encourage you to take a peek at this book...it's a wonderful gift for any Mom.

{Thank you to Ulysses Press for providing me with a free copy of this book for review. The opinions  expressed are my own.}
